Young People with Arthritis

Versus Arthritis

Young people are often absent from conversations on arthritis, with the misconception that it only affects old people. This lack of understanding affects the perception of young people in the classroom, impacting their experience with education. Versus Arthritis wanted a series of videos to educate both teachers and students on the experiences of young people and train them in the ways to support them.

As their experiences are often not part of the conversation, we wanted to give a voice to young people with arthritis. We worked collaboratively with young people with arthritis to understand the issues they face in school, and tailored our videos to hit these pressure points. Our training came directly from young people with arthritis - we facilitated group conversations as well as capturing one on one interviews tailored to the wider issues we'd identified.

The fims have been shown at nationwide conferences with nurses and educators and have begun to shape the way that young people with arthritis are supported in the classroom.
