REAL Centre

The Health Foundation

Brickwall was commissioned to create a short animation to launch the Health Foundation’s REAL Centre—its new hub for independent research and economic analysis on long-term health and social care. The film needed to explain what the REAL Centre is, why it matters, and what makes it distinct, without relying on personal stories or case studies. Instead, the animation had to present a bold, data-driven narrative in a clear and engaging way. Designed for a senior policy audience, the film was a key asset in a broader launch campaign, including digital platforms, social media, and live events.

We translated the Centre’s mission into a visually arresting, abstract animation, using data-inspired motion graphics and bold typography. With no live-action elements, the film relied entirely on 2D design and fluid transitions to build a narrative around long-term planning, population change, and health investment. The tone was confident, calm, and authoritative—supporting the Health Foundation’s desire for credibility and clarity. We worked closely with their communications and policy teams to ensure alignment across narrative, design, and audience expectations.

The finished animation is a clear and confident introduction to the REAL Centre, conveying its importance in shaping long-term health and care policy. The visual style is abstract yet purposeful, using simplified data motifs and clean design to reflect the Centre’s analytical focus. The film supports a strong call to action—inviting senior stakeholders to engage with the Centre’s work. It launched successfully across web, social, and live events, and continues to serve as a core explainer for both internal and external audiences. Feedback praised its clarity, tone, and ability to convey complex ideas simply and effectively.
